Been there, done that.

I've seen that one many times before.

The solution is almost certain to be a corrupt cmos.ram in
the model of whichever processor you're using.

Just replace it with a copy of the original from whatever
backup you have. There shouldn't be a need for any more
drastic measures than that - certainly not reinstallation.
