Are any other extensions shown? If not, you need to set
them from Control Panel -> Personalization and Appearance
-> File explorer options -> View and make sure that 'Hide
extensions for known filetypes' box is unchecked.

This is exactly the same as for Win 7 except that in Win 7
'File explorer options' appears as 'Folder options.
