The problem is solved, and, as people probably guessed, the defect was 
between the chair and the keyboard.

Usually, the W7 machine sits next to the ARMX6 and is connected by 
cable. Occasionally I take it elsewhere in the house, when it's 
connected by wi-fi. It was last in another room when were were Skyping 
family abroad on Christmas Day, and I discovered this morning that the 
cable hadn't been re-connected. UniServer assumes that the cable 
connection is live, so that's why it didn't connect. I've now added 
the wi-fi address to the clipboard connection in UniServer.
