Thanks Brian, I've used a range of AV software, paid and unpaid and seen little
advantage with paid programs - often worse. Even when I find one that is OK, it
is soon 'upgraded' to an unusable state. I haven't seen Webroot appear with good
reviews in Top 5/10 lists, so I'd prefer to avoid a frying pan to fire
experience. But thanks for the thought.

The Primary Surface problem has plagued me through 3 PCs - laptops and desktop,
3 OSs XP, Vista & 7, and VRPCs versions over many years. I got rid of it with
one of the PC side Video driver updates, but it then returned with the next PC.
I can reliably reproduce it by going into PC task manager while VRPC is running.
Although this and the hanging are often seen in a similar time frame, I don't
think they are closely related.
