All PC's run in 16M colour modes these days, there's no reason not to. 
So if VRPC is using a different colour depth, the screen has to be 
translated, and due to the different bit orders used by RISC OS, this 
may have to be done in software on the CPU rather than by the graphics 
card. If using the same colour depth as the PC, the graphics card can 
render it directly without using the CPU, which will be far quicker.
