Thanks again, and I'm now going to sound a bit ungrateful! I won't 
have time to do any more on VRPC till at least Sunday. I'm sure you 
know how busy retirement is, but from now till Saturday evening I just 
don't have any spare time.

Didn't try that, and VRPC is now back to its original state, with just 
HardDisc4 as the only bootable drive, and with the correct screen 
mode, thanks to my backup copy of model.cfg

Will do that when I get a round tuit.

Not this evening, I'm afraid, but you've given me courage to try again 
in due course. I'm very grateful for all the help, but I have lots 
else to do right now.
