I suspect the problem is not quite that, but that there are registry 
entries associated with the software, which call up things in the 
original installed copy. With most windows software, you cannot simply 
copy or rename it elsewhere - you have to reinstall - and the registry 
is a large part of the reason for that.

To truly test it, you will need to install VRPC onto your NTFS 
formatted USB drive. That will also set the file permissions correctly 
- FAT32 doesn't have file permissions, NTFS does, which is one reason 
NTFS is usually to be preferred for professional use - it gives a 
small increase in protection against mistakes.
