Unfortunately, not necessarily. The plug-in drive will pick up the
next-available drive letter. So if (say) another object such as a USB
memory stick has previously been plugged in, that will have claimed
the next letter (say E:). Then when the USB hard disc drive is plugged
in, it should in theory claim the following letter F:, and so on.
This *may* have knock-on effect on shortcuts (see below), so if
possible it's best to plug in the hard drive before anything else.

Having plugged in the hard drive with the copy VirtualRPC installation
on it (or a DVD, or an SD card, or a memory stick, or whatever), open
the VirtualAcorn\VirtualRPC-xxx folder, find the VirtualRPC.exe file
icon (the standard 4-cogs job for -Adjust or -AdjustSA) and
double-click on it to start up VirtualRPC.

The *existing* shortcut on the desktop will point towards the default
VirtualRPC installation on the computer's primary (internal) hard disc
drive.
However, if you want to start up VirtualRPC on the plug-in hard disc
drive, using a shortcut, simply right-click over the VirtualRPC.exe
file icon as above, select <Create Shortcut> and, when the <Shortcut
to VirtualRPC-xxx> shortcut icon appears, drag it onto the desktop.
Then to avoid confusing the 2 shortcuts, rename it to read something
like <VirtualRPC on USB Drive> or whatever.
Health warning... Note that, if the USB drive letter changes (see
explanation above), the *shortcut* will be pointing to the 'wrong'
drive letter, so it won't work. However, the VirtualRPC.exe file icon
in the VirtualRPC.xxx folder will still work.
HTH, regards to all
