I would guess that what happening is that some essential
modules have become unplugged.
 
Revert the the base version of RISC OS, make sure that
no modules are unplugged.
 
Do do this press F12
type *unplug
for each unplugged module type
*rmreinint (modulename)
Press Return twice to get back to the desktop
 
Now set the softloader to run the new RISC OS 6 ROM.
Shut down and re-start.
