Peter, I'm a little confused by your reply... I shall be picky, so there!
Nowhere did I say that it was *not* free.
Just that after the 30th April, version 8 will not have any more updates,
but AVG is not forcing anyone to upgrade, just requesting they do so.

After you've done the physical upgrade to the FREE version 8.5 thereafter,
again it will get regular free and automatic updates.
