That often works.  They can be set in Pluto's News/Mail preferences to
(none) and OK'd, then repeat the process re-selecting the correct
transports. Provided the necessary paths have been set up (which it
would seem they have) Pluto can then plonk the correct paths into its
own config file and all should work thereafter.

Of course, the first action one takes after finding that it does work is
to quit Pluto and take a safety backup copy of the whole app(!)
