The next meeting is on the 14th November... and I have two questions:

1) Is anyone planning to bring anything for inclusion in the announcement?

I will be - the newest RiscPiC prototypes. (The latest version of which 
works, and should be on sale in very limited numbers at the SW show). 
But will there be anything else to mention?

2) Do we want to hold the meeting at the Eldon House, or venture to one 
of the possible locations for the post-SW Show meal in order to try them?

TBH, having looked at the website for the Black Castle, I'm inclined to 
suggest that's the ideal location for the show meal - as well as being 
just over the road, the prices look surprisingly reasonable! (So they'll 
probably turn out to be tiny helpings ;)

So I'm half inclined to just send Richard the link and suggest we give 
it a try on the night (so to speak) - although it does need to be booked 
in advance.

Also: The Eldon House is currently calling Wednesdays "Pie Wednesdays", 
and serving a pie, two sides, and a pint, all for a tenner - and I 
believe the pies come from a local outfit called Pie Minister, who give 
their pies silly names.

I somehow feel this is vitally important information that needs to be 
considered. ;)

I feel your pain! :)

(But in the same context, it's worth looking at the Black Castle's menu 
- I suspect there may be a few things on there that won't be on offer in 
a home where an other half may be on a diet.)

I think the biggest problem with the Black Castle (re going there for a 
regular meeting to try it out for the show) is that there will be less 
appeal for those of us who don't eat - I suspect the range of 
strange-named beverages may be limited and not be what everyone wants.

Greene King pubs are fine, they have Abbot Ale. It's not any more 
difficult to get to for me (although I didn't even know the pub was 
there), so I'm easy whatever.

I posted the announcement to RISCOSitory/csa.announce last night, with 
Eldon as the venue.

Until that point (your post aside, because I hadn't spotted it yet) I'd 
only had the one reply (Steven's), largely in favour of pies and 
therefore the Eldon House.

Useful to know about Abbot Ale, though. Presumably that would be 
acceptable to other people who may come to the show in February who like 
that sort of thing.

No - that was my point; At the moment, I should be free whenever, so 
I'll leave it open for discussion amongst anyone who needs to fit it 
around other things...

...or a SWMBO type. ;)

So suggest a date (or dates) that would suit you and then someone else 
can say whether any are compatible with their diaries, and so on, until 
we narrow it down.

What I would say is that it should probably be early December (first 
week?) at the latest. I suspect it'll be too packed as we get closer to 
Christmas with company bookings.

Okay, so that looks like Chris, Ian, Steven, Q, and me for definite.

I've therefore booked it for five people, adding a note that it's 
possible one or two others may turn up. At the very least a table for 
five will probably be able to seat six anyway.

The booking is for Wednesday 5th, at 8:15pm, on the basis that our 
normal meeting time is 7:30, but people don't always arrive at the same 
time. We can congregate in the bar prior to that.

The online booking form gave me the option of the festive, buffet, or 
standard menu - so I selected the standard one (because it's the one I 
linked to previously on their website, so we all know what's on it.)

Besides - the booking is for 5th December, 2018. That's exactly 55 weeks 
until Christmas. Far too early for festive nonsense.

What I'm not going to do, because it's not a regular meeting, is post 
any kind of announcement. This is it.

The next meeting is on the 14th November... and I have two questions:

1) Is anyone planning to bring anything for inclusion in the announcement?

I will be - the newest RiscPiC prototypes. (The latest version of which 
works, and should be on sale in very limited numbers at the SW show). 
But will there be anything else to mention?

2) Do we want to hold the meeting at the Eldon House, or venture to one 
of the possible locations for the post-SW Show meal in order to try them?

TBH, having looked at the website for the Black Castle, I'm inclined to 
suggest that's the ideal location for the show meal - as well as being 
just over the road, the prices look surprisingly reasonable! (So they'll 
probably turn out to be tiny helpings ;)

So I'm half inclined to just send Richard the link and suggest we give 
it a try on the night (so to speak) - although it does need to be booked 
in advance.

Also: The Eldon House is currently calling Wednesdays "Pie Wednesdays", 
and serving a pie, two sides, and a pint, all for a tenner - and I 
believe the pies come from a local outfit called Pie Minister, who give 
their pies silly names.

I somehow feel this is vitally important information that needs to be 
considered. ;)

(But in the same context, it's worth looking at the Black Castle's menu 
- I suspect there may be a few things on there that won't be on offer in 
a home where an other half may be on a diet.)

I think the biggest problem with the Black Castle (re going there for a 
regular meeting to try it out for the show) is that there will be less 
appeal for those of us who don't eat - I suspect the range of 
strange-named beverages may be limited and not be what everyone wants.

I posted the announcement to RISCOSitory/csa.announce last night, with 
Eldon as the venue.

Until that point (your post aside, because I hadn't spotted it yet) I'd 
only had the one reply (Steven's), largely in favour of pies and 
therefore the Eldon House.

Useful to know about Abbot Ale, though. Presumably that would be 
acceptable to other people who may come to the show in February who like 
that sort of thing.

No - that was my point; At the moment, I should be free whenever, so 
I'll leave it open for discussion amongst anyone who needs to fit it 
around other things...

...or a SWMBO type. ;)

So suggest a date (or dates) that would suit you and then someone else 
can say whether any are compatible with their diaries, and so on, until 
we narrow it down.

What I would say is that it should probably be early December (first 
week?) at the latest. I suspect it'll be too packed as we get closer to 
Christmas with company bookings.

Okay, so that looks like Chris, Ian, Steven, Q, and me for definite.

I've therefore booked it for five people, adding a note that it's 
possible one or two others may turn up. At the very least a table for 
five will probably be able to seat six anyway.

The booking is for Wednesday 5th, at 8:15pm, on the basis that our 
normal meeting time is 7:30, but people don't always arrive at the same 
time. We can congregate in the bar prior to that.

The online booking form gave me the option of the festive, buffet, or 
standard menu - so I selected the standard one (because it's the one I 
linked to previously on their website, so we all know what's on it.)

Besides - the booking is for 5th December, 2018. That's exactly 55 weeks 
until Christmas. Far too early for festive nonsense.

What I'm not going to do, because it's not a regular meeting, is post 
any kind of announcement. This is it.

The next meeting is on the 14th November... and I have two questions:

1) Is anyone planning to bring anything for inclusion in the announcement?

I will be - the newest RiscPiC prototypes. (The latest version of which 
works, and should be on sale in very limited numbers at the SW show). 
But will there be anything else to mention?

2) Do we want to hold the meeting at the Eldon House, or venture to one 
of the possible locations for the post-SW Show meal in order to try them?

TBH, having looked at the website for the Black Castle, I'm inclined to 
suggest that's the ideal location for the show meal - as well as being 
just over the road, the prices look surprisingly reasonable! (So they'll 
probably turn out to be tiny helpings ;)

So I'm half inclined to just send Richard the link and suggest we give 
it a try on the night (so to speak) - although it does need to be booked 
in advance.

Also: The Eldon House is currently calling Wednesdays "Pie Wednesdays", 
and serving a pie, two sides, and a pint, all for a tenner - and I 
believe the pies come from a local outfit called Pie Minister, who give 
their pies silly names.

I somehow feel this is vitally important information that needs to be 
considered. ;)

(But in the same context, it's worth looking at the Black Castle's menu 
- I suspect there may be a few things on there that won't be on offer in 
a home where an other half may be on a diet.)

I think the biggest problem with the Black Castle (re going there for a 
regular meeting to try it out for the show) is that there will be less 
appeal for those of us who don't eat - I suspect the range of 
strange-named beverages may be limited and not be what everyone wants.

I posted the announcement to RISCOSitory/csa.announce last night, with 
Eldon as the venue.

Until that point (your post aside, because I hadn't spotted it yet) I'd 
only had the one reply (Steven's), largely in favour of pies and 
therefore the Eldon House.

Useful to know about Abbot Ale, though. Presumably that would be 
acceptable to other people who may come to the show in February who like 
that sort of thing.

No - that was my point; At the moment, I should be free whenever, so 
I'll leave it open for discussion amongst anyone who needs to fit it 
around other things...

...or a SWMBO type. ;)

So suggest a date (or dates) that would suit you and then someone else 
can say whether any are compatible with their diaries, and so on, until 
we narrow it down.

What I would say is that it should probably be early December (first 
week?) at the latest. I suspect it'll be too packed as we get closer to 
Christmas with company bookings.

Okay, so that looks like Chris, Ian, Steven, Q, and me for definite.

I've therefore booked it for five people, adding a note that it's 
possible one or two others may turn up. At the very least a table for 
five will probably be able to seat six anyway.

The booking is for Wednesday 5th, at 8:15pm, on the basis that our 
normal meeting time is 7:30, but people don't always arrive at the same 
time. We can congregate in the bar prior to that.

The online booking form gave me the option of the festive, buffet, or 
standard menu - so I selected the standard one (because it's the one I 
linked to previously on their website, so we all know what's on it.)

Besides - the booking is for 5th December, 2018. That's exactly 55 weeks 
until Christmas. Far too early for festive nonsense.

What I'm not going to do, because it's not a regular meeting, is post 
any kind of announcement. This is it.

The next meeting is on the 14th November... and I have two questions:

1) Is anyone planning to bring anything for inclusion in the announcement?

I will be - the newest RiscPiC prototypes. (The latest version of which 
works, and should be on sale in very limited numbers at the SW show). 
But will there be anything else to mention?

2) Do we want to hold the meeting at the Eldon House, or venture to one 
of the possible locations for the post-SW Show meal in order to try them?

TBH, having looked at the website for the Black Castle, I'm inclined to 
suggest that's the ideal location for the show meal - as well as being 
just over the road, the prices look surprisingly reasonable! (So they'll 
probably turn out to be tiny helpings ;)

So I'm half inclined to just send Richard the link and suggest we give 
it a try on the night (so to speak) - although it does need to be booked

Also: The Eldon House is currently calling Wednesdays "Pie Wednesdays",

believe the pies come from a local outfit called Pie Minister, who give 
their pies silly names.

I somehow feel this is vitally important information that needs to be 
considered. ;)

(But in the same context, it's worth looking at the Black Castle's menu 
- I suspect there may be a few things on there that won't be on offer in 
a home where an other half may be on a diet.)

I think the biggest problem with the Black Castle (re going there for a 
regular meeting to try it out for the show) is that there will be less 
appeal for those of us who don't eat - I suspect the range of 
strange-named beverages may be limited and not be what everyone wants.

I posted the announcement to RISCOSitory/csa.announce last night, with 
Eldon as the venue.

Until that point (your post aside, because I hadn't spotted it yet) I'd 
only had the one reply (Steven's), largely in favour of pies and 
therefore the Eldon House.

Useful to know about Abbot Ale, though. Presumably that would be 
acceptable to other people who may come to the show in February who like 
that sort of thing.

No - that was my point; At the moment, I should be free whenever, so

So suggest a date (or dates) that would suit you and then someone else 
can say whether any are compatible with their diaries, and so on, until 
we narrow it down.

What I would say is that it should probably be early December (first 
week?) at the latest. I suspect it'll be too packed as we get closer to 
Christmas with company bookings.

Okay, so that looks like Chris, Ian, Steven, Q, and me for definite.

I've therefore booked it for five people, adding a note that it's 
possible one or two others may turn up. At the very least a table for 
five will probably be able to seat six anyway.

The booking is for Wednesday 5th, at 8:15pm, on the basis that our 
normal meeting time is 7:30, but people don't always arrive at the same 
time. We can congregate in the bar prior to that.

The online booking form gave me the option of the festive, buffet, or 
standard menu - so I selected the standard one (because it's the one I 
linked to previously on their website, so we all know what's on it.)

Besides - the booking is for 5th December, 2018. That's exactly 55 weeks 
until Christmas. Far too early for festive nonsense.

What I'm not going to do, because it's not a regular meeting, is post 
any kind of announcement. This is it.

The next meeting is on the 14th November... and I have two questions:

1) Is anyone planning to bring anything for inclusion in the announcement?

I will be - the newest RiscPiC prototypes. (The latest version of which 
works, and should be on sale in very limited numbers at the SW show). 
But will there be anything else to mention?

2) Do we want to hold the meeting at the Eldon House, or venture to one 
of the possible locations for the post-SW Show meal in order to try them?

TBH, having looked at the website for the Black Castle, I'm inclined to 
suggest that's the ideal location for the show meal - as well as being 
just over the road, the prices look surprisingly reasonable! (So they'll 
probably turn out to be tiny helpings ;)

So I'm half inclined to just send Richard the link and suggest we give 
it a try on the night (so to speak) - although it does need to be booked

Also: The Eldon House is currently calling Wednesdays "Pie Wednesdays",

believe the pies come from a local outfit called Pie Minister, who give 
their pies silly names.

I somehow feel this is vitally important information that needs to be 
considered. ;)

I feel your pain! :)

(But in the same context, it's worth looking at the Black Castle's menu 
- I suspect there may be a few things on there that won't be on offer in 
a home where an other half may be on a diet.)

I think the biggest problem with the Black Castle (re going there for a 
regular meeting to try it out for the show) is that there will be less 
appeal for those of us who don't eat - I suspect the range of 
strange-named beverages may be limited and not be what everyone wants.

I posted the announcement to RISCOSitory/csa.announce last night, with 
Eldon as the venue.

Until that point (your post aside, because I hadn't spotted it yet) I'd 
only had the one reply (Steven's), largely in favour of pies and 
therefore the Eldon House.

Useful to know about Abbot Ale, though. Presumably that would be 
acceptable to other people who may come to the show in February who like 
that sort of thing.

No - that was my point; At the moment, I should be free whenever, so 
I'll leave it open for discussion amongst anyone who needs to fit it 
around other things...

So suggest a date (or dates) that would suit you and then someone else 
can say whether any are compatible with their diaries, and so on, until 
we narrow it down.

What I would say is that it should probably be early December (first 
week?) at the latest. I suspect it'll be too packed as we get closer to 
Christmas with company bookings.

Okay, so that looks like Chris, Ian, Steven, Q, and me for definite.

I've therefore booked it for five people, adding a note that it's 
possible one or two others may turn up. At the very least a table for 
five will probably be able to seat six anyway.

The booking is for Wednesday 5th, at 8:15pm, on the basis that our 
normal meeting time is 7:30, but people don't always arrive at the same 
time. We can congregate in the bar prior to that.

The online booking form gave me the option of the festive, buffet, or 
standard menu - so I selected the standard one (because it's the one I 
linked to previously on their website, so we all know what's on it.)

Besides - the booking is for 5th December, 2018. That's exactly 55 weeks 
until Christmas. Far too early for festive nonsense.

What I'm not going to do, because it's not a regular meeting, is post 
any kind of announcement. This is it.
